The LEGION ADC modules were designed for massive parallel data acquisition utilized in photoacoustic, laser-induced ultrasound, and X-ray acoustic real-time imaging applications. The LEGION ADC module offers fully parallel operation for simultaneous data acquisition from all channels without multiplexing in an ultra-compact enclosure connected via USB 3.0. Each unit supports 128- or 256-element detectors. Up to four ADC units can be operated in parallel to enable 1024 data acquisition channels. If more channels are desired, up to 32 units can be operated in parallel with the use of a synchronization hub (LEGION Hub) leading to an unprecedented 8192 channels. Independent programmable gain control is available for each channel, and analog signals can also be further amplified by a fixed 34 or 40 dB using optional, integrated preamplifiers. The LEGION ADC HD improves the analog bandwidth and sampling of the LEGION ADC and is currently available with 128 data acquisition channels.
